Avenue of the Giant’s Ride

CE – THIS IS A CLOSED RIDE TO THE PUBLIC. MEMBERS MAY BRING TWO GUESTS WITH THEM.

PLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders, use the restroom, fuel up, get a cup of coffee, etc.)

Day 1 Destination / Termination point will be the Hotel
Day 2 Destination / Termination point will be the Hotel
Day 3 Destination / Termination point will be the Hotel
Day 4 Destination / Termination point will be the Santa Maria area

Day 1
Making a right out of the parking lot towards the traffic light in the left hand turn lane.  Make a left turn onto Santa Maria Way heading under the overpass and onto the on ramp going north on Freeway101. We will stay on 101 north for approximately 60 miles. Taking the off-ramp to 46 west/ Cambria. Making a right then a left at the light to the
Chevron station on the left to pick-up riders and some fuel for those that need it. . Back on the freeway headed north for 53 miles to King City we will stop at the Chevron for
fuel etc.  Next stop will be Morgan Hill at the Rolling Thunder Harley Shop.  From the 101 freeway to exit 365 to Tennant Avenue, make a right then a left on Condit Road. Harley Shop on the left.  After a short time we will go left on Condit Road then make a left on East Dunne Avenue. Going to make a right on Laurel Road, Chevron will be on the right for fuel and Scrambl’z across from Chevron for lunch. Once again on the Freeway headed north to San Jose where we will take a right at exit 384 picking up the 680. We’ll be staying on 680 (Sinclair Fwy).  Staying on 680 to exit 30B staying on the right until it goes into interstate 580 (Arthur H Breed Fwy) to 580 (Sergeant Daniel Sakai Memorial Hwy) to 580 (MaCarthur FWY) . We will stay on 580 to the toll booth and roll right on through. Staying on 580 going across the bridge (the Richmond and San Rafael bridge).  Staying on 580 until it turns into the 101 freeway San Rafael. Staying on the 101 freeway for 22 more miles (102 from last stop) taking exit 472B Lakeville following the curve and then turning right and heading to the In & Out Burger then up the street to the Chevron Station. After a break, head right out of the parking lot back onto Lakeville st then make a left at the second traffic light to get back onto the Redwood HWY (101 FWY).  Traveling for another 76 miles to the 548 exit to East Gobbi then a right at the light onto south Orchard to 693 S. Orchard to the Super 8. $296.00 for 3 nights for 1 king, check early to see availability.

Day 2
Have breakfast then a pre-ride briefing, travel 23 miles to Willits up main st to Highway 20/ Fort Bragg on the left; travel (35.1 miles) to Highway 1. Approximately 1 hour. Making a right onto highway1. Making stops along the way to take photos and look at the scenery. We will stay on highway 20 till Highway 271 and make a right, make another right as we come to the drive thru tree Road. Drive through the Chandelier Tree and go to the gift shop. Fee for the park $10. (44 miles) 1 ½ hrs to get there. Again take our time and enjoy. If you have not figured it out yet, Days 2 & 3 are slow paced and enjoyable.  Driving through the park and stopping along the way to take it all in.  Leavin will be on the one way road leaving the park and making a right on Highway 271 to the 101 on ramp back to the Hotel.

Day 3
After Breakfast and a short pre-ride briefing we will be leaving the parking lot going left towards Gobbi and then another left heading to the 101 on ramp going north. Staying on 101 freeway to the exit 645 to Highway 245, Avenue of the giants.  Traveling through the Avenue of the Giants approximately 35 miles (2.5 hrs) we’ll be staying on highway 245 to Myers Flat and the Shrines Drive through tree. Stopping there for a while, relaxing and taking in the sites.  Back on our bikes we will get back onto highway 101 going south through some great scenery. Stopping occasionally to take in the sites and picture taking. Traveling 25 miles making a stop at the Grandfather Tree gift shop. There are
many wood carvings done with a chainsaw. Nice rest stop. Back on the 101 back to the Hotel.
