Big Sur Ride

CE – THIS IS A CLOSED RIDE TO THE PUBLIC. MEMBERS MAY BRING TWO GUESTS WITH THEM.
PLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders, use the restroom, fuel up, get a cup of coffee, etc.)
PLEASE BRING YOUR SM HOG MEMBERSHIP CARD FOR CURRENT STATUS!
Ride Rating: Moderate to Complex
We will be meeting at Carl’s Jr parking lot (Old Kmart parking lot in Arroyo Grande). After the briefing we will leave the parking lot making a right towards the Highway 101 freeway on-ramp heading North. Once on the 101 we will head north and we will go over Questa Grade, continuing to the Cambria Exit (46 west). At the traffic light we will make a right then a left at the other traffic light to the Chevron Gas station to stretch, take fuel and pick up other riders. (46 miles) After our stop we will be getting back on the road and we will make right at the light and head straight under the overpass and stay in the center lane. We will stay on Highway 46 west until the cross street (Highway 1) and make a right at the stop sign. We will continue on Highway 46 until we come to Windsor Boulevard and at the traffic light we will make a right then another right onto Main street and we will make a stop at the Shell Gas station. (50 miles) There we will fuel up, stretch and then back onto Highway 1 north. From Cambria to Ripplewood in Big Sur is approx.74 miles. We will NOT be stopping at Ragged Point this time.
Along the way there will be several occasions that we will be going single file, so be sure to give the rider in front of you enough room. Watching out for wild animals crossing the road (Turkeys and deer) etc. This is a very scenic ride, from the ocean to the redwoods. Once at Ripplewood we will have lunch and enjoy the surroundings. There is a Chevron Station for those that want to fill up. After lunch we will be headed back the same way and making a stop at Ragged Point for a pit stop. Then off to Cambria and some more fuel and then home. We will be staying on Highway 1 through San Luis Obispo and then make a right onto the Highway 101 south freeway.
Santa Maria will be the termination point of this ride.
