Russ Curtis Memorial Pine Mountain Ride

PLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders, use the restroom, fuel up, get a cup of coffee, etc.)

The return trip to New Cuyama will be our termination point for this ride.
On Saturday, October 29th, I will be leading us on our annual late summer trek up to Pine Mountain Club. This ride is dedicated in the memory of Russ Curtis, SMHOG member who passed away on this ride a few years ago. We`ll meet at Santa Maria Harley-Davidson and have a pre-ride briefing at 9:15 and head out at 9:30. We will take Highway 166 to New Cuyama and make a stop there to shed some clothes and use the restrooms. We will then continue east, turning onto Highway 33 and down to Ventucopa stopping at “the Place”. This cool little café/bar offers a nice breakfast and lunch and caters to the motorcycle crowd on the weekends. Good food and friendly staff.
After eating, we`ll continue south on Highway 33 till we get to Lockwood Valley Road where we make a left and head on up through the Lockwood Valley to Pine Mountain Club. This road is fun to ride, having a lot of turns, twisties, and terrific scenery to keep your brain occupied! Once we get to Pine Mountain Club, we will stop for gas and maybe something to drink from the nearby store. After our stop, we`ll head out of town heading north on the Cerro Noroeste Road. This road is also a lot of fun with the same kind of cornering, twisties, and spectacular scenery as before. We will eventually hit Highway 166 again. Taking a left, we`ll go to our final stop at Patti`s favorite restroom in New Cuyama to say our goodbyes, etc.
The mileage totals are approximately 125 miles up to Pine Mountain Club and 100 miles back to Santa Maria. It`s a fun little ride and we hope you will join us!
