Our return to the Santa Margarita Park will be the final destination / termination point for this ride.

We will head north on Highway 101 to the Highway 166 exit (5.2 miles) and continue east on 166 with a stop at the New Cuyama park (60.6 miles) before continuing on to Maricopa (84.3 miles from Santa Maria) where we will turn left and head north on Highway 33 through Taft and pick up Highway 119 and travel through Ford City, Valley Acres and Dustin Acres until we come to the junction of Highway 43 (22.8 miles) which is a new roundabout and we will turn into the parking lot where we will stop for fuel at the Shell Station and take a break.  This fuel stop should get us to our destination and back to Santa Margarita without any other fuel stops.  We will turn right out of the parking lot from the entrance we came in on and go around the roundabout and head east on Highway 119 for 9.2 miles and turn left onto Gosford Road and travel 3.5 miles to White Lane where will turn right and travel a short distance (2.4 miles) to Salty’s BBQ & Catering will be on our right just past Big Brand Tire’s.  This route from the Shell Station is a slight change from the original ride plan. (121 miles from Santa Maria).

Salty’s was featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-in’s and Dives with Guy Fieri so I have been looking forward to making this trip and trying some good BBQ….other than my own of course! LOL! Rick, the owner, has several choices of meat to choose from as well as sides.

After lunch we will head east a short distance and make a right onto Ashe Road and then right back onto Panama Lane and back to Highway 43 (11.7 miles) where we will turn right and head north to Highway 58 (7 miles).  We will turn left onto Highway 58 and head west. We will cross Highway 5 and travel through Buttonwillow as we make our way to McKittrick and pick up Highway 33 before picking up Highway 58 (25.2 miles) once again and head west to Santa Margarita.  We will stop at the park for a break and to say our goodbye’s (70.3 miles or 114 miles from our fuel stop at the Shell Station).  This will be our termination point for the ride. From here it is 40 miles back to Santa Maria and you are free to stop at any point and fuel up as you see fit.
