Vista Point Brown Bag Lunch Ride

CE – THIS IS A CLOSED RIDE TO THE PUBLIC. MEMBERS MAY BRING TWO GUESTS WITH THEM.

PLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders, use the restroom, fuel up, get a cup of coffee, etc.)

The return trip to Santa Maria will be the destination / termination point for this ride.

This is a Bag Lunch Ride, bring your own folding chair to sit on and have your lunch.

Leaving the parking lot and we will be making a right turn onto Bradley being careful of the up and coming traffic from the left, being a blind curve.  We will get in the left hand turn lane at the traffic light and after making the turn we will head to the Highway 101 northbound entrance ramp.  Once on the freeway, we will stay on Highway 101 until the Los Osos Valley exit on the right and we will move into the left turn lane on the exit ramp. We will make a left turn at the traffic light and stay in that lane through San Luis (5 traffic lights) as we head west to Los Osos.   We will stay on Los Osos Valley Road until we come to the traffic light in Los Osos and we will make a right onto S. Bay Boulevard.   We will stay on S. Bay Boulevard until we travel under the overpass to Highway 1 and we will make a left and head north and merge into traffic.  We will be going through Morro Bay, Cuyucas, and on to Cambria.  We will make a right at the fourth traffic light (Windsor Boulevard) once in Cambria and then an immediate right (Main Street) and turn left into the Shell Gas station.

After filling up our tanks and using the facilities we will have roughly 30-minutes or so.  We will turn right out of the station and travel to the traffic light we just came through, make a right onto Highway 1.  We will be staying on Highway 1 for the rest of the trip going by San Simeon and Ragged Point.  Some areas on this stretch of Highway we will be traveling in single file formation as we enter some tight curves going up and then down and back up again.  We will travel through Gorda and travel another 2 miles where  there is a vista point with lots of places to park and we will setup and you can have your brown bag lunch.  If that place is too windy we will travel another 2 miles down the road is the Sand Dollar Picnic ground at the State Park and they have picnic tables and 2 out houses.  It is protected from the wind and scenic.  There is a $10 user fee.

The return trip will be the same way back.  Depending when you gassed up you may need to gas up in San Luis just to be safe.  There is a Chevron on the right at the traffic light.
