SUMMARY:"Plenty on Bell" Lunch Ride in Los Alamos - Was Indian Valley
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text el_class=”ride-details”] \n\nRoad Captain: Phil ‘Rain Man’ Rietz\nDeparture Briefing: 9:15 am\nDeparture Time: 9:30 am\nDeparture Point: Santa Maria Harley-Davidson\n\n CUTOFF TO SIGN-UP FOR THIS RIDE WILL BE FRIDAY\, OCTOBER 2\, at 3 PM SO I CAN MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE RESTAURANT \nSIGNUPS ARE NOW CLOSED \n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]CE – THIS IS A CLOSED RIDE TO THE PUBLIC. MEMBERS MAY BRING TWO GUESTS WITH THEM. \nPLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders\, use the restroom\, fuel up\, get a cup of coffee\, etc.) \nPLEASE BRING YOUR SM HOG MEMBERSHIP CARD FOR CURRENT STATUS![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Ride Rating: Moderate\n \nPlenty on Bell in Los Alamos will be the destination / termination point for the ride. \nThis is a new destination for the Chapter.  See the route map below. \nAfter the pre-ride briefing we will leave the dealership parking lot onto Preisker Lane and head to the traffic light on N. Broadway where I will wait for the light to turn green so I can keep the group together.  We will head south on Highway 101 to the Betteravia Road exit.  We will turn left at the traffic light and travel over Highway 101 on the overpass and head east on Betteravia and this will turn into Foxen Canyon Road where we will go to single file formation. \nWe will stay on Foxen Canyon Road to Sisquoc in single file formation where we will continue to go straight / south on Palmer Road staying in single file formation. \nWe will then stay to the right and get onto Dominion Road.  We will continue on Dominion Road in single file formation until we come to E. Clark Avenue where we will turn left.  We will go back to staggered riding at this point. \nWe will travel through several stop lights in Orcutt until we come to Highway 135 (5.1 miles) and we will turn left at the traffic light and head south.  We will then stay to the right at the Highway 135 / Highway 1 split and head to the Main Gate at Vandenberg Space Force Base (22.1 miles) where we will turn left. \nAs we come into Lompoc at the WYE we will stay in the left hand lane as we pass Alan Hancock College – Lompoc Branch.  We will travel east on Purisima Road through one 4-way stop and then turn right on Mission Road that will take us to Highway 246.  We will turn right onto Highway 246 and travel into Lompoc and at the Highway 246 / Highway 1 traffic light we will make a left turn (10.1 miles). \nWe will travel 1.5 miles where will turn left onto Santa Rosa Road so if we get split at the traffic light near Home Depot I will wait on Santa Rosa Road for the group to reform.  We will go single file on Santa Rosa Road in its entirety.  I pre-rode this stretch of road on Thursday\, Oct 1 and the first couple of miles are on the rough side due to farm equipment and patching but then after that the road improves and is only rough in a few more areas on the route.  Spotty at best.  We will travel approximately 16 miles until we pass Vega Winery to the right of us where we will make a hard left turn and come to a stop sign.  Oncoming traffic does not have a stop sign and has the right of way so you will want to be careful at this intersection. \nWe will travel into Buellton and the road name changes to Avenue of the Flags.  We will travel north on Avenue of the Flags until we make a right turn onto Damassa Road\, travel over Highway 101 and make a left onto the northbound ramp to Highway 101. \nWe will stay on Highway 101 for 13.1 miles and we will take Exit 154 Los Alamos / VSFB and travel a short distance to our destination that will be on the left\, Plenty on Bell.  We will find parking where available. \nThe restaurant starts serving lunch at 11:30 am so I hope to get there a few minutes early to give us time to stow our gear.  Total mileage is 81.0 miles and should take us 1 hour and 46 minutes give or take. \nPlenty on Bell Lunch Menu \nIf you have any questions\, please contact me at 805.757.9202.  I am looking forward to trying this new destination out. \nPhil ‘Rain Man’ Rietz[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”19525″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
