(This will allow you time to visit other riders\, use the restroom\, fuel up\, get a cup of coffee\, etc.) \nPLEASE BRING YOUR SM HOG MEMBERSHIP CARD FOR CURRENT STATUS![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image source=”featured_image” img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Ride Rating: Moderate\nto Complex \nHeat advisory: forecast is 90 degrees for lunch at the Mission.\nThis is a premier ride that we have not been able to do for many years because the road was closed. It is a 240 mile ride R/T from Santa Maria and is an all day ride for experienced riders only. It will be a bag lunch ride\, so bring your own lunch. \nAfter a short briefing at SMHD\, we will head north on US 101 and take exit 228 for McChevron at 101 and CA-46 W (55 mi). We will gas up\, use the facilities and have a briefing for the rest of the riders that meet us there. Heading north on US-101\, we will exit in Paso Robles we will take the 46E exit and turn left onto 46-W at the traffic light and go under the freeway.  It (24th St) becomes Nacimiento Lake Drive.  After 10 miles\, we turn right at Chimney Rock (G-14) and continue to Interlake Road (G-14) and turn left (14 mi). We will travel in pretty country on G-14 with elevation changes to Jolon Road in Lockwood and turn left. This will take us into Ft. Hunter-Liggett (28 mi). Mission San Antonio de Padua is on the left. This part of the ride is 90 minutes from McChevron. We will have lunch at the picnic tables at the Mission. There are beverages for sale in the gift shop but no food. There is a little museum and costs $10 but I haven’t done it.  There are also restroom facilities available. \nAfter lunch\, we head down Nacimiento-Fergusson Road. This is an incredibly twisty and steep downhill road with breathtaking views (26 mi). We are going to be in 2nd gear mostly the whole way\, so no need for speed. At the bottom of the mountain\, we take a left onto CA-1 S. We will pull into Ragged Point (20 mi) to use the facilities and say our goodbyes. This leg is 90 min. from the Mission. This is the termination point of the ride. It is another 90 min. back to Santa Maria (85.5 mi)\, so people will need to stop for gas in Cambria or Morro Bay. \nCall me if you have any questions. Let’s do this! (805) 574-5744 \nLaurie ‘Deerslayer’ Reifsnyder[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

It is repeatedly said but there is a ‘2 second’ gap or more interval between you and the bike in front of you so DO NOT ride up their tailpipe! We will bear left and the road turns into Palmer Road.  Following Palmer Road this will take us to Foxen Canyon Road in Sisquoc and we will turn right. \nWe will stay on Foxen Canyon Road and then continue south on Zaca Station Road which will take us to Highway 154.  We will go back to Staggered formation at this point in time.  Staggered formation is 2 seconds with the bike in front of you and 1 second with the bike diagonally from you. We will turn right and travel over Highway 101 and get on the southbound on ramp and head towards Buellton.  We will take the Avenue of the Flags exit and then make an immediate left on Damassa Road\, travel over Highway 101 and then turn right at McMurray Road.  This will take us to Highway 246 where we will make a left hand turn at the traffic light and travel east through two traffic lights and out destination will be just past Rio Vista Chevrolet on the right hand side.  We will find parking\, stow our gear and then place our orders at the Hitching Post 2 Tasting Room outside counter behind the Hitching Post 2 Tasting Room.  (44.9 miles\, 1 hour 5 minutes) See Route map below \nI will let the staff know at the Hitching Post 2 Tasting Room how many riders will be attending on Friday\, Noon\, August 28th so they can set up a seating area for us.  The food is great at this place since they prepare it in the main restaurant and then hot box it over to the Hitching Post Wines area.  They open at 11:30 am and we should arrive a little after 12:00 pm. \nThe Hitching Post 2 will also be our destination / termination point for the ride. \nHitching Post 2 Tasting Room Food Menu \nIf you have any questions please contact me at 805.757.9202.  I will be turning in a head count on Friday\, August 28th.  If you sign up after that I cannot promise you anything.  They are really good about having things set up for us before we arrive. \nPhil ‘Rain Man’ Rietz[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”19139″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
