New Year’s Day Ride

CE – THIS IS A CLOSED RIDE TO THE PUBLIC. MEMBERS MAY BRING TWO GUESTS WITH THEM.

PLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders, use the restroom, fuel up, get a cup of coffee, etc.)

PLEASE BRING YOUR SM HOG MEMBERSHIP CARD FOR CURRENT STATUS!

Well, I was going to lead the group to Charlie’s in Los Alamos but they are going to be closed.  So, alternate plan.  Leaving the parking lot and being careful of the oncoming traffic on the left side, blind curve we will make a right turn and head to the left hand turn lane at the traffic light.   We will head to the Highway 101 northbound entrance ramp and travel north to the Donovan exit where we will make a right turn at the light.  We will stay on Donovan until we come to Bull Canyon Road and we will take a left and go over the river bed.  We will travel single file due to the narrowness of this road.  When we come to Highway 166 we will turn right and go 11.9 miles where we will turn right onto Tepusquet Road.  Again we will get in single file formation.  When we come to the Y split with Santa Maria Mesa Road we will take a left and travel over the river bed to Foxen Canyon Road (15.8 miles).  We will make a left turn and travel through vineyards and encounter some twisties and elevation changes and we will be careful to watch for possible flooded areas on the right side of the road.    We will travel 8.7 miles and make a right turn onto Alisos Canyon Road.  We will enjoy the scenic view along the way and when we come to the stop sign at Highway 101 we will be careful and merge into the flow of traffic and head north.  We will travel north on Highway 101 back into Santa Maria and take the Stowell exit.  After we crossover the highway we will move to the left turn lane and make a left at the traffic light.  We will travel past In and Out and make a right at the next traffic light and then an immediate left turn and come into the back parking lot at Applebee’s of Santa Maria.  This will be the termination for this ride.
