Ripplewood Cafe Big Sur Lunch Ride

CE – THIS IS A CLOSED RIDE TO THE PUBLIC. MEMBERS MAY BRING TWO GUESTS WITH THEM.

PLEASE ARRIVE 20 – 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE PRE-RIDE BRIEFING! (This will allow you time to visit other riders, use the restroom, fuel up, get a cup of coffee, etc.)

Our return trip to Santa Maria will be the destination / termination point of this ride.

After the briefing we will leave the parking lot making a right turn towards the left hand turn lane at the traffic light and going under the overpass to 101 freeway on-ramp heading north. Once on the 101 headed north we will go over Questa Grade, and continue on to the Cambria Exit (46 west).  At the traffic light we will make a right then a left at the other traffic light to the Chevron Gas Station (McChevron) to stretch, take on fuel and pick up other riders (46 miles).  After our break we will get back on the road by making a right turn at the light and head straight under the overpass and stay in the center lane.  We will stay on Highway 46 west until the cross street (Highway 1) and make a right at the stop sign / traffic light.  We will stay on Highway 1 until the first traffic light as we come into Cambria and we will make a right turn onto Main Street and travel a short distance before we make a left turn onto Burton Drive.   This will take us to the Chevron Station which will be on the left at the corner of Main Street and Burton Drive.   After fueling up we will get back on Main Street by making a left turn.  We will go pass the first street light for about a block and then make a left onto Cambria Drive.  Highway 1 is the cross street and we will make a right turn (50 miles).  From Cambria to Ripplewood in Big Sur it is approximately 74 miles.  We will not be stopping at Ragged Point this time.

Along the way there will be several occasions that we will be going single file, so be sure to give the rider in front of you enough room (2 seconds or more) and we will watch out for wild animals crossing the road (Turkeys, deer, etc). This is a very scenic ride, from the ocean to the redwoods. Once at Ripplewood Cafe we will have lunch and enjoy the surroundings. There is a Chevron Station for those that want to fill up (expect $7+ per gallon). After lunch we will be headed back the same way and making a stop at Ragged Point for a pit stop.   We will then stop off in Cambria for some more fuel and then home.  We will be staying on Highway 1 through San Luis Obispo and then making a right onto the 101 south Freeway.
